The attackers scanned the Internet to discover default usernames and passwords for IoT devices. They then gathered an army of IoT users to launch DDoS attacks.

When it comes to protecting against these kinds of threats, antiviruses and IOT have a significant role to play. However, this type security software must expand its surveillance capabilities to include a review of how IoT devices communicate with each other as well as the outside world, while keeping strong password practices in place two-factor authentication, and up-to date patching. When combined with other security tools, these measures form an effective defense against IoT threats.
