Composition:
Each one gm contains:
Doxycycline hyclate…………..346.21 (Eq. to 300 mg doxycycline )
Properties:
Doxycycline is a bacteriostatic antibiotic belonging to the tetracycline group, which acts by inhibition of protein synthesis.
Doxycycline produce its bacteriostatic action by binding to the 30s ribosomal subunit of susceptible organisms.
After binding to the ribosome tetracyclines interfere with the binding of aminoacyl-t RNA to the messenger RNA-molecule/ribosome complex, thereby interfering with the bacterial protein synthesis in growing or multiplying organisms.
Tetracyclines mainly active against gram positive bacteria like streptococcus, staphylococcus and gram negative bacteria such as E.coli, Haemophilus paragallinarum, Pasteurella spp., and salmonella Tetracyclines are active against Mycoplasma and Rickettsia
