Treatment of coccidiosis (w.s.p)
Composition:
Each 100 g powder contains: 60 g sulfaclozine sodium monohydrate (eq. to52.6g sulfaclozine).
Properties:
Sulfaclozine is an antibacterial belonging to class of sulfonamides.
Like all sulfonamides, sulfaclozine is a comanimalitive antagonist with para-amino benzoic acid (PABA), a precursor of folic acid, in protozoa and bacteria; folic acid is a coenzyme necessary for the synthesis of nucleic acid, hence sensitive species do not multiply in the presence of Raciclosin.
.sulfaclozine: acts as coccidiostatic against different Eimeria species of poultry also bacteriostatic agent against many Gm+ve and Gm–ve bacteria.
Indications:
RACICLOSIN: is indicated for treatment of coccidiosis in poultry due to infection with Eimeria species, fowl typhoid due to infection with salmonella gallinarum and fowl cholera due to infection with pasteurellamultocida.
Target species: Broiler chickens, turkeys.
Dosage and administrations: for oral use via drinking water.
In case of coccidiosis: 150-200mg RACICLOSIN/KG body weight/day.
Corresponding to 1.5-2 g RACICLOSIN per liter water are indicated for 3 consecutive days and repeat after a 2 days break if necessary (shuttle programs like day 1,3,5,7,9or 1,2,5,6,9 have also been found effecting).
For the treatment of salmonellosis: 100-200 mg RACICLOSIN)/Kg body weight/day corresponding to 0.5 to 1 g Raciclosin per liter water for at least 5 consecutive days.
Warning and precautions:
.None required warning for each target species.
.special precautions for use in animals:
Ensure adequate water intake during the treatment.
For use in drinking water of poultry. Prepare fresh water daily.
.Special precautions for the user: to avoid sensitization or contact dermatitis; direct skin contact and inhalation in the treatment and processing and gloves.
Are to be avoided. To do this wear adjust mask and gloves.
Contraindications: not for use in chickens and turkeys producing eggs for human consumption.
Side effects: in poultry side effects are rare including (anorexia, diarrhea, drop in egg production, growth depression, hemorrhages).
-In the case of long term administration of sulfaclosine can occur blood disorders as agranulocytosis and thrombocytopenia.
Overdose symptoms are ataxic movement, muscle spasms and cramps also coma and liver damage in case of occurrence above mentioned side effect an immediate discontinuation of the treatment.
Withdrawal time:
Chickens meat and offal: 7 days
Turkey’s meat and offal: 16 days
Storage conditions: temperature not exceeding 30c in dry place and to be used immediately after opening and reconstitution.
