Composition:
Each 1 gm contains:
BACITRACIN METHYLINE DISALICYLATE ..534.73 mg.
(Eq. to BACITRACIN BASE 440 mg).
Properties:
Bacitracin is polypeptide product of bacillus subtilis that inhibits the formations of bacteria cell-wall peptidoglycan by complexing directly with the pyrophosphate carrier & inhibiting the dephosphoylation reaction required for its regeneration.
It is bactericidal to gram +ve bacteria but has little activity against gram – veorganisms.
The main antibacterial activity of his antibiotic is due to the bacitracin Acomponent.
The speed of bactericidal action being directly proportional to its concentration & therefore, to its dose
Indications:
Necrotic enteritis in chickens caused by clostridium perfringens susceptible to ( BMD ).
Dosage & Route of Administration:
Route of administration: Orally via drinking water.
Broiler & replacement chickens: 0.12_025 gm of product / hour for 5-7 days.
Warning & precautions:
- To control an outbreak, start medication at first clinical signs of disease.
- Consult a diagnostic laboratory or veterinarian to determine the diagnosis and advice regarding the optimal level of drug.
Contra-indication:
- Not to be given parenterally , since it is strongly nephroic.
Side effects:
No side effects are observed following oral administration.
Withdrawal time:
Broiler & replacement chickens : zero days before slaughter.
